Calaveras Track & Field Parents
Welcome to Calaveras Track & Field. There are many ways that you can get involved in our program and help make the season a success. Our coaching staff works hard with your student/athletes every day and look forward to a great season. We have a lot of talent and the opportunity for a lot of success this coming season, but first and foremost in my mind is getting our team ready to compete. If your student/athlete makes the commitment we believe that they will achieve individual goals, and help in achieving our team goals, as well as having a lot of fun in this competitive setting. Our coaching staff will challenge all of our athletes in day to day practices and hopefully set them up for successful competitions. Calaveras Track & Field is reigning champions of the Mother Lode League in three of the four divisions and we would like nothing more than to have a complete sweep of those categories this coming season. The Varsity Girls should be shooting for a Section Title this coming year as well as the MLL title. This will all take hard work and a commitment to excellence (in honor of Al) in order to achieve this goal.
To make this happen it will mean that we were successful in our fundraising, hosted quality meets as well as competed to the best of our ability. John Wooden defined success in this way, "Success is peace of mind which is a direct result of self-satisfaction in knowing you made the effort to become the best of which you are capable." At the end of this season I hope that we, as a program, can look back and meet this definition of success because then we will have really been successful and not just out on the track and in the field. You as parents can be a major contributor to our program's success and below describes a number of the ways that you can assist our coaching staff.
Home Meets:
Email me at davrit@comcast.net if you can work and what area you would be willing to help out.
1. A minimum of 4 parents willing to work in the snackbar. Shifts can be made once we have those able to work lined up. It usually works out that each parent can get out and watch their athlete compete and then come back in to work.
2. A minimum of 4-6 parents who can work in a variety of areas, raking pits, posting results, working in the bullpen etc..
Gilroy, 3/30 & 3/31: Email to the address above if you can help with this trip
1. Drivers are needed. We will need many drivers willing to take their personal vehicles and transport as many kids as possible in those vehicles. You would also be chaperones at the Super 8 Motel of Gilroy. We leave Friday morning and get back late Saturday night.
2. If you can help you will need to get a driver's form, to be filled out and returned to the district office. If you have your team member ask me for the form, I can send it home with them and then you would just have to drop it by the district office.
Fundraising:
We ask each team member to bring in $50.00. This can be done in a number of ways:
1. They could just bring in a $50.00 check written out to Calaveras Track & Field, or
2. They could get two sponsors for $25.00 each (see the sponsor sheet sent home with the kids), or
3. They could get one sponsor for $25.00 and simply write a check for the other $25.00.
If you find a sponsor who would like to support the program for more than this it would of course be fine with us. This money is used for purchasing many equipment items that come up during the year as well as funding our Gilroy trip and our end of the year awards banquet. One big item we have a need for is a new High Jump pit, but in that case we are talking about several thousand dollars that would need to be raised, and thus it is on our wish list.
Thank you for your time and I hope to hear from some of you soon.
Thanks,
Coach Avrit
