The Principal's Notes
Welcome back as we begin the second semester of this school year. I
know the past semester was a busy one for students and staff and
families. This past semester, CHS completed its WASC accreditation
process with a visit from a committee of educators from around the
state. The visiting team had many compliments for the CHS community,
and the visit was a positive experience for all. You can read a copy
of the visiting committee's report by going to the school Web site
and clicking on the WASC link. Links and other contact information
are at the bottom of this newsletter. One major strength the team
found was the strong parent and community support the school and its
students have. One example of that is the new Parent Club. Check
elsewhere in this newsletter for more information about this group.
This coming semester will be no less busy than the last. Our winter
sports season is underway, spring sports are just around the corner,
winter ball is coming soon, and lots of other activities will be
happening. In addition, we will begin the process of selecting
classes for next year in February. Now is a great time for parents
and student to review their high school four-year plans to make sure
students are selecting courses that will help them meet their goals.
Not sure about a goal after high school? Visit the career center, or
make an appointment with your grade-level administrator to discuss
options. Having trouble with a course, or not sure you are on track
for meeting your goals? Your grade-level administrator can help you
there, too. Peer mentors, tutors, and after-school assistance from
teachers are all available to help students succeed in their
classes. Please use these resources to help your students get the
most of out high school.
Have a great third quarter!
